Big Majority of Doctors, American People Want Public Option

So let’s see. Poll after poll shows that:

(a) a sizable majority of doctors support the public option:

and, (b) a really sizable majority of the American people want a public option:
Someone tell me again how passing a bill without such a popular provision like this wouldn’t be catastrophic political suicide for the Democrats?

58% of Republicans Not Sure Whether Obama Born in U.S.

If anyone is looking for reasons why the Republican Party holds little to no appeal to me right now, here’s something to noodle on:

Less than half of Republicans believe that Barack Obama was born in the United States of America, a new public opinion poll finds.

Only 42 percent of Republican respondents in a Research 2000 survey … said they thought Obama was a natural born citizen; 28 percent said they did not believe Obama was born in the United States; 30 percent said they were not sure.

The responses, which were gathered after several prominent conservative media personalities fed suspicion that Obama was unconstitutionally holding office, show the extent to which the conspiracy has taken hold in the GOP.

That only a plurality of Republicans were willing to acknowledge the president was born in America is nothing short of astounding, considering the preponderance of evidence that confirms his Hawaiian birth.

This isn’t the lunatic fringe of the party; a majority of Republicans aren’t fully convinced that our President isn’t a foreign-born interloper!

Someone call me the day the Republican Party gets some measure of its sanity back. Until then, enjoy the frothing mass of hate-filled, paranoid, xenophobic stew you’ve been stirring for 40+ years.

40% of Americans View Gov. Snowbilly Grifter Favorably!?

So the WaPo has a new poll out on Sarah Palin:

Overall, the new poll found that 53 percent of Americans view Palin negatively and 40 percent see her in positive terms, her lowest level in Post-ABC polling since she first appeared on the national stage last summer as Sen. John McCain’s running mate.
The thing that jumps out at me from these numbers is that 40% of respondents see her in positive terms. 40%!? Seriously??

I mean, I can understand the reliable 20-25% of the country who think the duly elected President of the United States is a gay terrorist illegal alien Nazi who routinely drinks the blood of Christian babies and sodomizes the corpse of Jesus… But 40%!?

Were that to be taken as a representative sample of the total American population, that means that 120 MILLION PEOPLE hold a favorable view of quite possibly the most inept, dangerous and polarizing national politician in recent memory.

Could 120 million people really be so blind as to gaze upon the endless drama, prideful ignorance, rampant insanity and personified embarrassment that is Sarah Palin with anything other than instinctive disgust?

Seriously, what the fuck is wrong with people?

The ability of the GOP to avoid concern-trolling from the media has been pretty impressive. You might think, ex ante, that offering blind, root-and-branch opposition to the popular agenda of a popular president would be a path to political disaster. And, indeed, the evidence suggests that blind root-and-ranch opposition to the popular agenda of a popular president is making Republicans very unpopular. But they have, at least, succeeded in mostly getting to press to cover their obstructionism as a problem for Obama rather than for them.
Someone tell me again about that allegedly evil liberal media bias?
