Seriously, how has “EGGCUP!” not yet taken over the interwebs?

All right, a word of explanation.

A long time ago, I watched this episode of Law & Order: Criminal Intent. It was pretty good as far as these things go, plus the Melissa Leo guest spot is always a boost. The episode did the “Vincent D’Onofrio uses psychological jiu-jitsu to put a wedge between the killers and get them to confess” thing that it often did so well, and then proceeded to crap all over the big finish with this little bit of acting, which I thought was one of the most unintentionally hilarious things I’ve ever seen that wasn’t called Batman & Robin. Why did the director let him get away with that? It recalls perfectly Phil Hartmann’s delivery of “GRIDLOCK!” at about 2:15 in this video, which is INTENTIONALLY PARODIC:


But EGGCUP! is a funnier thing to shout out than GRIDLOCK!, of course, since it’s a combination of extreme anger and a pointless, silly object. That’s why this is great! Since the L&O episode aired before YouTube was even a thing, I guess the timing for it to become a full-fledged meme was off. But it deserves to be one! It’s just perfect for it, actually, makes “It’s a trap!” look like a flaming bag of dog turds. So people, you have to pass this on, so that everyone can come to know the bliss of the…
