Just a few quick thoughts on the current state of health care “reform” in the Senate.

Yes, I am disappointed that reform has been watered down so much.

Yes, I think Howard Dean is being a dick and giving Republicans all the cross-party ammunition they’ll need in 2010.

Yes, I still think the bill does a number of good things and should be passed.

No, I don’t hold much hope for it getting any better in conference committee.

Yes, I think that Harry Reid is a shitty leader and should be run out on the rails, yesterday.

Yes, I think the Democrats are proving again how they lack a substantial measure of cohesion and cojones.

Yes, I think the Democrats are scuttling their chances to avoid major losses in 2010.

No, I do not in any way think any Republican would be running the country better.

That is all.

    This is so vapid.

Really? Any Republican? There's some I'd like to see running things. Gary Johnson, for instance--especially now that the recession's over and we need private sector expansion.

A decent GOP leader could not get enough of a following as the wing nut would attack on sight because he is not in lock step with them.

This is another victory for the plutocracy, the Republican party and Joe Liebermann. There will never be, in our lifetime, reasonable health care in this country. We had better face the nasty facts. Ours is not a government "of the people, by the people, for the people". We're just kidding ourselves.
