Yep, not only another tired attempt to outlaw all abortions, but also the birth control pill!

A nationwide anti-abortion group launched an effort in Florida Friday to outlaw all abortions and certain types of birth control, including oral contraceptives and the morning-after pill.

The religion-infused movement, called “Personhood Florida,” would define conception in Florida’s constitution at the “biological beginnings,” supporters said — when the sperm meets the egg. The group filed its amendment today but the exact ballot language is still being worked out, said Secretary of State Spokeswoman Jennifer Krell-Davis.

The amendment seeks to outlaw all abortions, even in cases of rape and incest. Also criminalized: the morning-after pill and oral contraceptives taken by women, known as the pill. “There are some (birth control) methods that kill a child,” said Pat McEwan, who is leading the Personhood Florida group.

One of the big reasons why I’ve always wanted to become a multi-billionare is to enable me to commission studies analyzing the time, energy and money wasted on religion-inspired nonsense like this.

How much money do you think state governments waste every year either fighting or trying to implement blatantly unconstitutional encroachments on the separation between church and state? $500 million? $20 billion?

Sigh…

P.S. Just for the record, outlawing birth control pills would almost certainly result in more abortions.

Another example of how religious fanatics warp biblical teachings to uphold their opinions.

but your being rational, and smart, they dont want any of that! you leave your brain at the church entrance please! thank you come again…

lol, logic and religion don't seem to mix well

      • schu says:

It is not the religion but the perversion of religion for personal goals. There is nothing in the bible stating when life begins except for a couple of Old Testament statements about when a child can be presented to the temple. Everything else is a opinion of a church leader.

I just wish they would leave my body to myself. We are not baby factories to appease an invisible character.

    • schu says:

But according to the church leaders who pervert the Bible with their own personal opinions you are. Nothing scares a religious fanatic more than an independent thinking woman.

What I want to know is just where and how do these individuals have come to the conclusion that it's their "right" to stick their noses in other people's personal and private business?
I'm sure they don't want the "Government" sticking it's nose in their business, so why do they think they have that "right" and "ability" to do so?
Is it just me, or do they just now want to see the reality of today's modern life? This isn't the 1400's where a wife did as she was told, when Kings and Queens ruled. Countries no longer grovel at the feet of a religious leader.
So untold years the idea of an oral contraceptive that a women could take to avoid an unwanted pregnancy was only just a dream.
In places around the US and the world, condoms were outlawed. In some places it was a common practice with a doctor to ask a women who'd had a third child if she wanted a hysterectomy. A hysterectomy was at one time a very bloody operation.
Women had to actually get sterilized to avoid becoming pregnant again.
What is wrong with these people? Do they choose not to read history. Do they not choose to actually research the issue?
    I guess not.
Might I suggest that since this section of our culture want to stop any form of birth control, that they and their organizations pay child support for these unwanted children?
I'm sure that if they had to open their wallets and pay for these children for their first 18 years, or up to age 24 if they decided to attend a college, that they might take a different view.
    But I doubt it.
They seem to have, like so many other "fringe" groups to have "God" behind them.
I wonder if any of them are taking any flying lessons?

Because they have the only true belief, they are the only ones that the Lord has spoken to, and they will force all of us to follow their distorted opinions.

So, if this is right, the way i am reading………."We make the pill illegal and the reaction to this action is underground abortions will begin to spread like wildfire."
Another moronic move by religious groups.

  7. David says:

Don't worry , the pill will never go away . The congressmen do not want their girlfriends giving birth to their bastard kids. They will just work the abortion angle for the right wing votes.
