A little tech tip that in my experience not enough web users are aware of: get used to wheel-clicking on stuff.

By this I mean press your mouse wheel vertically down, like gravity. Go on, wheel-click here to try it. Similarly you can go wheel-click up on the tab bar to close what you just opened.

Pretty simple, but extremely handy for power browsing (a.k.a. how I spend too much of my time) as it allows you to quickly load (and later close) multiple links from one page.

The only unfortunate thing is many laptops and Macs don’t have a wheel or middle mouse button on their pointing device. On these, instead you must perform a regular click while holding down the Ctrl or Command keys. Yet another reason why PCs are better, yo!

For those of you who already do this, a more advanced tip: Type something in your browser’s address bar or search box (you can use Ctrl+L or Ctrl+K) and then press Alt+Enter instead of just Enter.
