It’s amazing to me that Mitt Romney brings up France as a scary comparison point to himself so often when he spent years there and speaks the language. It’s such a minor point, but telling. What I am going through is a prime example of the situation. I have been out of work for the last years and two months. The unemployment picture in Elkhart county Indiana is very grim at 18% and rising. My wife works, plus my unemployment, and the retirement she cashed in means that we still have our house for a few more months, if my prescriptions do not eat up that money. Last fall I started back to school online to finish my B.A. in Applied Business Management using the student loans available. People in Elkhart at losing their home, the homes shelters are full, and the food banks empty as fast as they can be filled. Even the Amish are filling for unemployment, which is almost unheard of. My daughter, son-in-law and granddaughter live with us to cut expenses and because we have a large home.
Great news! The stimulus worked!
(I jest, I jest)
But Obama said if we didn't pass his stimulus unemployment might hit 10%! We did and it did anyway proving yet again Obama is a liar and that the American people are screwed!
Hopefully you're just jesting like me--but since your comments so far have been somewhat unhinged, I must point out that this does not make Obama nor his economists liars—it makes them non-clairvoyant.
Few people think employment numbers would be better now and in the short-term without the stimulus. Some, like me, think we'd be better off if the stimulus monetary expansion had included more tax cuts than spending. I was especially in favor of a four-year payroll tax cut.
Really? Yeah…you should stick with that since everyone that said that their stimulus wouldn't work were called liars and now that it hasn't worked those of us who said it wouldn't work are somehow not right? I don't get it! Many people said the stimulus wouldn't work and it was a waste of money and yet you still defend the morons who didn't listen to the people who obviously knew! I am amazed right now!
But wait, tell me how the people who said it wouldn't work are still wrong and Obama is still right! Maybe you should quit listening to that mental midget and his adviser who can't even run Turbo Tax! But hey…just keep telling me how Obama is making everything better! LMAO
you're obviously not paying attention because i think you'd otherwise find some sympathy in some of gherald's thoughts if you didn't immediately jump into attack mode and actually tried to understand what people are saying. gherald and i disagree on some points but are always able to do it intelligently and without jumping off the deep end into ad hominem mockery.
I think you've gotten yourself a prefab-con. Wohoo!
ooh, i like that. hadn't seen the term yet. very apropos.
An interesting term, and I think it is very apt.
