What a surprise, Republican leaders are taking the opportunity to blame Iran’s blatantly stolen election on Obama:

Richard Perle, a neoconservative and former Pentagon adviser, said Obama must share the blame for Ahmadinejad’s power grab. “Normally, when you unclench your fist it benefits the hardliners, because Obama appeared to be saying we can do business with you even with your present policies.” [...]

“It underscores the folly of the president’s basic premise that the problem we have with bad actors around the world is that they don’t understand us,” said Frank Gaffney, of the Center for Security Policy, a conservative think tank. “These people are thugs and they have been emboldened by our weakness.”

And here was Mitt Romney:
ROMNEY: The comments by the president last week, that there was a robust debate going on in iran, was obviously entirely wrong-headed. What has occurred is the election is a fraud, the results are inaccurate, and you’re seeing a brutal repression of the people as they protest. … It’s very clear that the president’s policies of going around the world and apologizing for America aren’t working.Look, just sweet talk and criticizing America is not going to enhance freedom in the world.
Is there anything these guys won’t exploit for political gain?

I swear Nebraska could get hit by a meteor and these jerkoffs would find a way to blame it on Obama.

  2. Schu says:

Cheney, Richard Perle, Mitt Romney, and company will use any thing they can to follow Rush’s ideology to make our president look like a failure, regardless of what the cost to the country. In following the current GOP’s slavish dedication to situation ethics and thing is fair as long as it gives a temporary gain.

Just more disingenuous political grandstanding from a party that does little more than engage in Monday morning armchair quarterbacking.

The GOP leadership had previously stated that:  1) it didn't matter who was elected since the Irani Presidency is a position that carries little real political power, and  2) they actually wanted Ahmandinejad to be re-elected, since it would make it easier for the U.S. to take a hardline, non-diplomatic stance against Iran.

In other words, these same politicians and pundits would have found a reason to bitch and moan and blame Obama no matter what the Iran election outcome had been.

  4. Toby1 says:

It's precisely the opposite. Obamas new reasonable sounding stance has left ahmadinnerjacket looking increasingly out of date, and the people are asking what they gain from having this hardline blowhard as president. Using the police to break heads to stay in power is the last resort of a discredited regime

Brutal repression of protesters? Does anyone recall something like that in the Twin Cities around primary season, what with citizen journalists being preemptively raided and having equipment confiscated? I recall a few things about hanging chads and shifty touchscreen voting and man in the middle attacks on vote tabulation datastreams, and plane crashes too…..

Ah, got it….just as we sell our 5 years out of date military tech, the necon's sold the mullahs their tactical playbook for electioneering and suppression of dissent, and they must recognize their handiwork in action, especially about how force and coercion are is the last resort of a discredited regime, there are those RNC riots again. Its been a good year for The Internets vs. Tyrannical Sociopaths Inc.

If the skin heads want to shut down America, they should start with Fox News.
They are crawling out of the woodwork.
They have no ideas to present—--they only know how to complain, and critize Obama.
On Fox news tonight, they are even talking about Michelle Obama's clothes.
I would like to smack the smirk off Hannity's face.
He is still talking about Rev. Wright.
I would like to hear what he has to say about this video.
