The usually insufferable HRH Queen of the WASPs Peggerton Noonanshire has a rare moment of lucidity and calls out Republican leaders for their craven political opportunism on the Iran uprising:
America so often gets Iran wrong. We didn’t know when the shah was going to fall, didn’t foresee the massive wave that would topple him, didn’t know the 1979 revolution would move violently against American citizens, didn’t know how to handle the hostage-taking. Last week we didn’t know a mass rebellion was coming, and this week we don’t know who will emerge the full or partial victor. So modesty and humility seem appropriate stances from which to observe and comment…John McCain and others went quite crazy insisting President Obama declare whose side America was on, as if the world doesn’t know whose side America is on. “In the cause of freedom, America cannot be neutral,” said Rep. Mike Pence. Who says it’s neutral? This was Aggressive Political Solipsism at work: Always exploit events to show you love freedom more than the other guy, always make someone else’s delicate drama your excuse for a thumping curtain speech.

It’s amazing to me that Mitt Romney brings up France as a scary comparison point to himself so often when he spent years there and speaks the language. It’s such a minor point, but telling. God Bless Her! She may be the smartest person in Washington, aka Hollywood for the ugly.
Always remember when listening to the GOP’s official spokesmen, the GOP’s declared intent is to see that the president fails, regardless of the cost. Among the most ridicules charges is that in only six months in office that he is responsible for the fanatical meltdown that started a year before his term started.
thankfully 80%+ of americans still believe Obama inherited the financial mess.
It seems like every position the Republicans take is diametrically opposed to Obama's but it's also contrary to common sense. So is it the Republicans are hoping Obama fails or are they continuing the bad ideas they have had for the last 8+ years?
honestly, it seems like a precipitous descent into complete insanity. i am really having a hard time even understanding some of the completely loony bullshit they're pushing right now
The concept of situation ethics has dominated the Republican Party for so long that they cannot recognize the failures that the concept developed. It does not mater what the topic is, as long as they can get an attack in. It continues to erode the party and produce a huge number of independent voters that used to vote pure Republican. If you doubt these, as some will, how else can you explain what happened in Indiana? We elected Obama, but reelected a Republican governor and let the Republicans control the state senate.
