This is great news for the GOP:

A member of the Republican National Committee told me Tuesday that when the RNC meets in an extraordinary special session next week, it will approve a resolution rebranding Democrats as the “Democrat Socialist Party.”
When only 20% of the country identifies themselves as a Republican… When the American public isn’t buying any of the economic twaddle the GOP is currently selling… After the country roundly rejected an eight year period of gross incompetence and mismanagement by a Republican President… What will help resurrect the GOP from the ashes? Yep, name-calling. I’m sure that’ll work out well.

Here’s Steve Benen:

[T]he effort is a breakthrough moment in political inanity. Members of the Republican National Committee are holding a special meeting so they can officially ask Democrats to change the name of their political party to something Republicans prefer. In fact, the resolution, which might as well have been written in crayon, concludes that the RNC is “calling on” the Democratic Party to embrace the GOP-endorsed name. It adds that Democrats “should agree” to the re-naming.

If Democrats disagree, the RNC has promised to stomp its feet and hold its breath.

If you’re thinking the RNC might need a “time out,” we’re on the same page.

Richard Posner, a well-known conservative and Reagan-appointed federal judge, argued this week that “conservative intellectuals” no longer have a political party. For some reason, the Republican National Committee appears anxious to prove Posner right.

ROFLMAO! That's not only hilarious, but so spot-on appropriate! :-)

i particularly liked that bit too. it's pretty scary to see what the mainstream republican party has become. it's like watching an 8-year-old react to getting grounded for a week

That was my immediate reaction, has political discourse been reduced to name calling on the part of the Republicans? I kinda want to call them the Fascist Republic Party, but who knows what the next escalation would be.

So far, the Republicans have no police ideas, no new ideas what so ever, just the usual name calling labels. If you want to show Christian ideals, and care for your fellow Americans, you are a socialist, but if you want to invade another country, kill their people, and steal their resources, then you are a real American.
