I used to really enjoy Bill Maher but his recent work is simply tepid and feckless. Tonight, the show is deleted from my DVR.

Politico parodies itself (via): The Senate, once the chamber of deliberation and reason, is getting its own extreme makeover. Moderates such as Maine Republican Olympia Snowe and Democrat Ben Nelson are bolting an institution that barely resembles the one they entered as idealistic deal makers. Ben Nelson? Idealistic dealmaker? These are words that should not be in the ... (1 comments)Despicable Quote of the Day - Icky Gay Sexytime Is A Threat To National Security

Mississippi: A Shining Example Of Limited Government
Ah, the land of Mississippi – that shining bastion of God-fearing, limited-government conservatism. Well, unless you want to father illegitimate babies — then the government will throw you in jail. The Santorum Has Officially Been Mopped Up In The 2012 Race
I think this gets it right. Additionally, though, while I find Rick Santorum’s beliefs to be pretty risible, and his inability to accept that his ideas had some less-than-ideal results during the ’00s is a personal failing, but at the very least he seemed to possess some sense of personal honor and integrity. I'm in full agreement — I think he's one of those liberal comedians that simply can't be funny without a Republican administration to poke fun at.
I really enjoyed him during the Bush years. Oh well…
yeah, it seems that way. some comedians have found lots to laugh at, like John Stewart. Bill Maher just seems to have shriveled up and died. no fight left in him
Ive been disappointed by maher, but I still watch the show for the group comentary… maybe one day he'll let the panel speak without him saying a word :P
yeah, the group commentary still has moments but he invites on way too many loons and too few good position proponents from the left. you gotta hand it to the Repubs, they do a great job bullying their way through a conversation
I enjoyed Maher in the past, but it seems like he's been booking guests smarter than him, and that just makes him look like an idiot. I really started to lose my zeal for him after watching Religulous. It was just painful to sit through. The dynamic between the members is the reason I grab the Podcast these days (I don't have HBO.)
i can't quite put my finger on what my main beef is but i think it seems like he's not really in the fight anymore. in the past, he seemed possessed with a passion to call bullshit when he saw it. now, it just seems like he's going through the paces of saying some mildly controversial things, pushing his all-natural food fetish, and trying to prove he's an oh-so-independent thinker by finding opportunities to sign off on some of the more mild BS peddled on the show by people like john bolton. maybe he's tired. maybe, as suggested above, the absence of bush has robbed him of passion.
Or he has sold out.
