There has to be a stronger word than schadenfreude to represent how much I enjoyed listening to this self-identified Republican McCain supporter absolutely demolish Rush Limbaugh on his own show:
Here are some highlights (go here for the full transcript):
CALLER: Thanks, Rush. Rush, listen, I voted Republican, and I didn’t — really didn’t want to see Obama get in office. But, you know, Rush, you’re one reason to blame for this election, for the Republicans losing. And, for the coup de grâce, we get a brief glimpse into what Limbaugh really feels about any Republican who disagrees with him:First of all, you kept harping about voting for Hillary. The second big issue is the — was the torture issue. I’m a veteran. We’re not supposed to be torturing these people. This is not Nazi Germany, Red China, or North Korea. There’s other ways of interrogating people, and you kept harping about it — “It’s OK,” or “It’s not really torture.” And it was just more than waterboarding. Some of these prisoners were killed under torture.
And it just — it was crazy for you to keep going on and on like Levin and Hannity and Hewitt. It’s like you’re all brainwashed.
And my last comment is, no matter what Obama does, you will still criticize him because I believe you’re brainwashed. You’re just — and I hate to say it — but I think you’re a brainwashed Nazi. Anyone who could believe in torture just has got to be – there’s got to be something wrong with them.
RUSH: Barack Obama is president of the United States today because of stupid, ignorant people who think like you do…You and your ignorance are the most expensive commodity this country has… You don’t know diddly-squat…
You know, you’re just plain embarrassing and ludicrous. But it doesn’t surprise me that you’re the kind of Republican that our last candidate attracted. Because you’re no Republican at all based on what the hell you’ve said here.

Two Obama picks for the Fed were just confirmed. Fun fact: Obama has appointed six of seven members of the Board of Governors. Being as the terms last for 14 years, it’s pretty rare for any one president to have that kind of impact on the direction of the Federal Reserve, and it might indeed ... I’ve been saying it for years: the countless billions of dollars rushing into “social media” companies is largely a farce and a bubble that is destined to burst. Politico parodies itself (via): The Senate, once the chamber of deliberation and reason, is getting its own extreme makeover. Moderates such as Maine Republican Olympia Snowe and Democrat Ben Nelson are bolting an institution that barely resembles the one they entered as idealistic deal makers. Ben Nelson? Idealistic dealmaker? These are words that should not be in the ... (1 comments)Despicable Quote of the Day - Icky Gay Sexytime Is A Threat To National Security

Mississippi: A Shining Example Of Limited Government
Ah, the land of Mississippi – that shining bastion of God-fearing, limited-government conservatism. Well, unless you want to father illegitimate babies — then the government will throw you in jail. Part of that is almost certainly a stalled, ailing economy, but what’s sort of interesting because a big part of their drop is due to implementing a cap on charitable deductions, which is essentially what Obama wanted to do here to cut ... The Santorum Has Officially Been Mopped Up In The 2012 Race
I think this gets it right. Additionally, though, while I find Rick Santorum’s beliefs to be pretty risible, and his inability to accept that his ideas had some less-than-ideal results during the ’00s is a personal failing, but at the very least he seemed to possess some sense of personal honor and integrity. I love it. Limbaugh might be gaining power among the far-right of the party, but he is losing it among the moderates who are the only reason they didn't get their asses kicked worse than they did.
i am so interested to see how the 2010 elections are going to play out. the gop experienced an unprecedented time in the wilderness following the great depression. one hopes the fear of this may someday encourage them to take a deep long look at themselves and craft a less 19th-century message that may actually appeal to some people.
Limbaugh's ratings have skyrocketed since the election Like Glenn Beck he's an entertainer, that's all he cares about.
Democrats love him being the face of the right because he's such an easy villain to run against. The fact that he owns the Republican base and can force politicians to be deferential and not openly disagree with him really ices the cake.
