I just watched Rahm Emmanuel on This Week with George Stephanopolous. He basically said that the people who devised the Bush torture policy should not be prosecuted. Shit. If this really represents Obama’s views, it sounds like a whole lot of war criminals are going to be let off the hook, even without an investigation.

there are a few things pissing me off about this administration, and this is one of them! But putting the memos out for the world to see those criminals will have to do for now I guess.

yeah, we'll have to take what we can get right now. i am going to be really pissed, however, if none of the Bush war criminals are at least officially investigated for their war crimes during the next 4 years. this "look forward, not backward" shit doesn't fly for me. if we didn't need to look backward, we wouldn't need laws or treaties that outlaw torture. the thing that worries me is future administrations viewing a blanket forgiving of Bush torture as license to do it again without fear of punishment
