The stupidity and backwardness of the Catholic Church never ceases to amaze me.
First the Pope and his minions hastily decide to un-excommunicate rabidly antisemitic Bishop Richard Williamson who, to this day, denies that Hitler’s Germany ever purposefully killed any Jews.
Now, in order to dig itself out of the international firestorm that has erupted over this supremely idiotic move, the Vatican now says that the crazy antisemite Bishop must say he’s sorry and recant his Jew-hating ways.
As Andrew Sullivan notes: “can anyone envision an even remotely satisfying statement that Williamson could make at this point?”
I mean, seriously, this is like the Republican Party asking David Duke to tell all of us that he now loooooves black people. Would we buy it? Hopefully not (unless of course you’re from Louisiana).
